Symposium Venue

The Innovation Centre Auditorium of the Fondazione CR Firenze stands on the ruins of the “Granary of Abundance” built by the architect Giovan Battista Foggini for Grand Duke Cosimo III de’ Medici in 1695. For several decades it was used to store grain against periods of famine, and thanks to a meticulous restoration project, the pristine Medici grain stores can still be admired. Thanks to an urban regeneration project, the Fondazione CR Firenze has now transformed the Granary of Abundance into its Innovation Centre, a driving force for innovation and economic development catalyzing resources and talents. The historical building hosts today the modern Auditorium featured by all audio and video equipment and a capacity up to 300 people. The site also has an area devoted to catering with an exclusive bar and restaurant service available for coffee breaks, buffet and seated luncheons, cocktails and dinners.

The Auditorium is located at a walk distance from the historical “old-bridge” as well as all main hotels in Florence downtown. It can be reached walking from the main rail-way station “Santa Maria Novella” (20 min walking crossing the Arno River) that is the terminus of the tramway line 2 that connects the railway station to the Florence airport (back and forth every 15 min; ticket price 4.5 € for a single run).
